Hey check out this video! In my last post I talked about how student's view the new world in which they live in and by this I mean the world of technology. Well, this video gives a different perspective, the perspectives from teachers today and those who love technology. One of the guys in the clip said that it is the "death of education but the beginning of learning". So what do you guys think about that statement. It is a shocker....death of education wait so what does that mean for us education majors... we will not have jobs in the future? Also this clip gave me a perspective that if life continues this way in technology then our schools are going to become places where social interaction happens online and never in person. I guess I am just wondering what will happen to future students if everything is completed by technology. Will students know how to interact with people outside of the Internet world? Will students get any exercise or will it have to consist of exercising with technology? Well, any thoughts?

I thought this was really interesting. You state a lot of reasons why I am somewhat skeptical of technology. I really think that interaction for students is so important. In language arts, part of it is teaching the students how to speak and communicate well. If everything goes online it seems like they would lose that skill. As teachers, especially in the later years of school, we are preparing them for life in the real world. If they have no communication and group work skills how are they going to be able to commubnicate with others and work together in thier jobs? One of the best professors I have ever had says that successful classrooms are ones that are based on groupwork, community, and relationships.I think you raised a really good point with your post. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteI will be quite upset if I have spent all this money to BE an educator to find out that I am not at all needed.
And, I think it is interesting that, from this quote, that he says we have not been learning anything for the past many years. But if we have not been learning, how did we end up to where we are today?
I also think you did a great job with this post. It is scary to see that the world is moving more and more into this technology phase. In some areas it is excellent and almost miraculous to have this technology; these are the cases of hospitals having machines that can breath for people until they recover, or hearing aids for students who suffer from hearing impairments, even vehicles to help students get to school. But in this case where it is about technology related to the internet and phones, these areas are what scare me the most. These areas of technology, although they are advancing our nation in some ways, also seem to be hurting us as we lose communication skills, and the desire to get hands on experience and try new things. You did a great job summing it all up.
